where seasons
pass under new turquoise skies,
where colors fall quietly in the forest
where cold ponds flow under small wooden bridges,
where snow
crystals float along brisk tree bark, where leaves,
tangled twigs lay on the powdery, white ground
there are flowers winter can’t wilt
see the gnarl stem joyously budding a spidery yellow foliage
in this thicket coldness, mottled gray moths flower
in the wintry fog, settling on witch hazels.
they disappear like the last colored leaf,
leaving behind grains of seedling dust
from it’s scale glittered wings
here the feral earth doesn’t turn,
it sits.
